GOOD NEWS - 7th August
Fleetwood Youth Hub held a very successful Jobs Fair last Friday, the first in the newly opened facility within the former hospital building on North Albert Street.
Youth Hub coordinator Courtney says, "It was an incredible day to say the least. We saw an amazing total of 63 attendees, 41 of which were universal credit claimants. There was never a moment that the space was empty and each employer/provider always had someone in front of them. The overall buzz throughout the day was fantastic and each person that walked through the door walked away with either improved confidence when talking to prospective employers, a clearer idea of what they want to do with their future or at best, an interview! The feedback we have received from those invited to offer opportunities has been great and every one of them are eager to attend any future events."

It's always a pleasure to chat with local residents and hear their wonderful ideas for something new in the Fleetwood community.
Earlier this year we met with creative artist Joseph Travis and he's now launched a series of Arts & Heritage walks.
On dates throughout August and September, the routes will take in many of Fleetwood's well-known buildings and locations. You'll be provided with a sketchbook and materials, and Joseph will give you tips to capture what you see and you can take your work home.
There are 10 walks to choose from and children from age 10 are welcome to attend with an adult.

As we write, the wonderful Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs has just been featured on the BBC North West Today bulletin and it may well be repeated this evening.
Reporter Ellis met the team of volunteers, learned more about the equipment, the facilities including the new accessible changing room and of course tried out a chair for a trip down to the sea - a shame it didn't look very warm on the day!
The Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) join up health and care services to improve people's health and wellbeing - this includes support for Healthier Fleetwood.
Working closely with NHS Trusts the ICB is looking at how the delivery of Cardiac Services can be improved across the region and welcomes contributions from individuals, as patients, carers of a patient or as healthcare staff.
IDEAS FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS ...
There's a Sunset Wellbeing Walk tomorrow, Thursday 8th August. Meet at 7.30pm by the Log Cabin, opposite the Sea Cadets Base for a 7.45pm start. You'll follow the route of the Fleetwood Wellbeing Way to The Mount Pavilion for some refreshments and to enjoy the views.
Farmer Parrs Animal World is holding a Vintage Rally on Saturday and Sunday.
Exhibits and attractions include Vintage Cars and Car Enthusiasts, Vintage Tractors, Stationary Engines, Fairground Rides, Animal Petting and Tractor Rides. Entry to the rally is FREE with donations going to the Air Ambulance Charity.
Looking ahead to the following week we are delighted to support the Beach Craft event with Fleetwood Museum Trust & Friends.
Join the volunteers on Central Beach, Saturday 17th August at 12 noon to help create a large-scale piece of art. Previous years have seen sea creatures and Fleetwood's Fish Queen appear on the sand, this time the work will be themed around the RNLI 200th Anniversary. It's FREE to attend and suitable for families - please wear appropriate clothing for the beach and weather conditions.
Sunday 18th is the next Fleetwood Jumble Trail event. Don't miss the last Jumble Trail of the year. It's a great way to pick up a bargain, meet new people and get out & about. With the new school term approaching, many stalls will be offering uniforms.

WHAT'S ON AT THE HEALTHIER FLEETWOOD CENTRE
We host a number of regular drop-in events at our Centre on Lord Street, close to Fleetwood Market and opposite St Peter's church - all sessions are free, no need to book in advance and refreshments are available.
On Tuesday mornings Tony welcomes members of the Armed Forces Community and Helen hosts a Camerados Public Living Room, then in the afternoon, it's a Health & Wellbeing drop-in with Jake.
If you're a community group or event organiser looking at the options for the future, chat with Mark on Thursday afternoons about governance, legal status and bid-writing. We can also put you in touch with support from Wyre Council and Lancashire County Council.
Back next week for their very popular drop-in are the knowledgeable volunteers of the West Fleetwood Computer Clinic. Call in on Friday 16th August from 11am to around 1.30pm if you need advice for your digital device. The friendly team can help with getting connected, staying safe online, storing files and more. The drop-in session is FREE and there's no need to pre-book although the first hour can be busy so browse the information in our Centre and enjoy a brew if you have to wait.
REECE & SUNNY'S ROVING REPORT
Reece & Sunny attended last week's launch of the new Living Seas Wildlife Trail on behalf of Healthier Fleetwood. As a wheelchair-user Reece couldn't access all of the trail but they had a very enjoyable couple of hours and encourage local residents and visitors to give it a go!
Thank you to Rachel from The Bay: A Blueprint For Recovery for the invitation.
The Bay team are also hosting a busy month of events in Wyre and further afield.
There's a Shoresearch, an Eggcase Hunt, a Seawatch looking out for seals and cetaceans, a Community Beach Clean and a Honeycomb Worm Walk!
And finally ... we had a fantastic time at the FLEETWOOD MOVES festival in Memorial Park on Saturday.
Vibrant and colourful with a wide range of music and dance performances and workshops accessible to all ... it was the perfect way to spend a Summer's Day. Huge thanks and congratulations to Helen and George from LPM Dance, to all the amazing performers and to the many volunteers for their hard work on the day.
Fleetwood Moves was made possible by support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, managed locally by Wyre Council. We hope that it will become an annual event, a great addition to Fleetwood's community calendar and we look forward to being involved again.
Please keep sending in all your GOOD NEWS to share with the community.
