October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a volunteer-led group from Fleetwood is sharing life-saving messages across the community.
This week Behind Closed Doors hosted a workshop with staff from Mount View Practice sharing information on Domestic Abuse and it’s long term impact.
Discussions included types of abuse; signs to look for; coercive control; trauma bond and Clare’s Law.
On Friday 10th October, from 10am in the Heart of the Hub cafe, the team invite all members of the community to find out more about Clare's Law which allows individuals to request information about their current or ex-partner's history of violence or abuse.
Behind Closed Doors recently partnered with Westview Community Association to paint colourful pebbles with empowering messages, leaving these around Town for people to find.
From their base on Adelaide Street, the team offer much more support and sign-posting to other services.
The group work closely with the police and other agencies, and welcome opportunities to deliver workshops to businesses and community groups.
