In the last week, we've seen yet another example of the Fleetwood community coming together to help those in need with the launch of a new volunteer-led group.
Level Up Community: Fleetwood Families in Recovery has been formed by local residents, providing help to people coping with mental health issues, addiction and in recovery. They offer support through somewhere to meet and chat over a brew, practical advice and signposting to services.
A family event was held in Memorial Park last Saturday and this is the start of the journey, so there will be much more to share in the weeks and months ahead.
> For now follow the Facebook page or you can call Shirley on 07743 920614 and Abby on 07446 872233 to find out more about the group and their work.
If you have an idea for a project to improve culture or sport in the community, you could get up to £15,000 towards your costs from Lancashire Culture and Sport Fund.
Crowdfund Lancashire gives local communities and individuals a chance to create and support the projects which matter most to them. It will enable everyone to contribute towards their community - chipping in as little as £2 to help bring ideas to life. To find out more there's a drop-in information session tomorrow (29th May) from 5pm to 6.30pm at Fleetwood Library.
Don't worry if you can't make that ... for full details of how to start your project and apply for funding support > Visit the Crowdfund Lancashire website

There's a new mural appearing on the Promenade wall of Fleetwood's Marine Hall.

And just along from Marine Hall there will be plenty of activity on the beach this Saturday, 31st May ...
It's the monthly beach clean event with The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery from 10.30am to 12noon. You'll be helping to keep the area clean and tidy, safe for visitors to enjoy and somewhere for plant and animal life to thrive. Meet by the cafe and beach huts on Central Beach, equipment is provided - wear suitable clothing for the conditions.
A little later, 1.30pm - 2.30pm, there's a 'Nurdle Hunt' on the beach around Rossall Observation Tower. These are small lentil-sized pieces of primary plastic, transported around the world to be made into other things. Unfortunately, they get spilt and pollute our water. Any nurdles or small plastics found will be taken away and recorded, the results added onto a map of nurdle finds around the world.
Accompanied children are very welcome to join in these events - min. age for the Nurdle Hunt is 12 years.
