This week Fleetwood is looking forward to hosting an inspiring community event AND there's plenty of opportunities coming up in September to try something new.
Healthier Fleetwood is honoured to be among the many local organisations, groups and individuals attending the Baton of Hope event on Monday 1st September. The Baton of Hope relay begins a huge national tour here on the Fylde Coast, starting in Blackpool, then St Annes before Fleetwood Town FC's Highbury Stadium hosts an afternoon to raise awareness and support for those affected by mental health or suicide.
All members of the community are invited to come along for a chat and to discover the services available to them or a loved-one, and share their experiences to help others. The event is from 2pm to 4pm, there's no need to book. The Baton arrives at 3pm, carried by some amazing people with personal experience of losing a loved one. If you are free on Monday, we look forward to seeing you.
Emmanuel Church begin their Bereavement Journey course next week.
The seven sessions of films and discussions are for anyone bereaved, at anytime. Topics include: anger and guilt; the pain and response to grief; coping with other people's reactions and moving forward.
The last session is an optional discussion on the role faith can play while you are coping with a bereavement. The sessions are on Tuesday mornings from 2nd September, 10.30am to 12 noon at Emmanuel Mount Church, Mount Road - places should be pre-booked.
Karen & Sparkly Margaret, the team behind JOYFEST 2025, invite you to their new Laughter Club on Fridays at Burtons Tea Room.

Fantastic to see the wonderful work of the National Coastwatch Institution Fleetwood team recognised on TV this week.
NCI teams across the Country safeguard the lives of people by watching over vulnerable craft and all forms of coastal activity - locally they are based at Rossall Observation Tower and cover Morecambe Bay, north of Fleetwood. Presenter Helen Skelton visited the team recently for the Chanel 5 programme Coastal Adventures, finding out more about the volunteer's work which also includes passing on weather forecasts, tides and sea conditions.
Rossall Observation Tower is also among the buildings included in Fleetwood's Heritage Open Days this year.
The main weekend is Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September, with many local landmarks welcoming visitors. Some locations are open on different days. A printed guide is being distributed across Fleetwood this week. Please note: Some venues / tours do require pre-booking and may have limited spaces.
