Only one place to start this week ... by thanking everyone involved in the massive weekend of community events across Fleetwood!
Thousands of local residents and visitors, didn't let the poor weather spoil their fun at Fleetwood's Festival of Transport, Fleetwood Community Comic Con, Fleetwood Food & Drink Festival and many other heritage, music and craft events. None of this would have been possible without all the hard work and creativity of the volunteers and staff on the day and for months in advance.
It's never too early to offer your help to the organising committees of any event in Fleetwood. You will be warmly welcomed and help play a part in the amazing local community. Check out the Facebook pages for any of the events we share to find out how you can get involved ... or contact us at Healthier Fleetwood and we can connect you to a wide range of volunteering opportunities.
Looking ahead, Fleetwood Rotary Club have announced plans for Summer of 2026 ... The Fleetwood Dragon Boat Extravaganza
The event on Sunday 21st June will close their Centenary Year celebrations, which are already well underway. Rotary is looking for at least 12 teams of 17 people to pit their skill and strength against each other to find Fleetwood’s first Dragon Boat Champions. It's going to be a spectacular event, bringing the community together whilst raising funds for a variety of local and national good causes.
If you'd like to know more about taking part in the Dragon Boat Race or Fleetwood Rotary in general:
Sporting stars and those who make a difference through physical activity or community wellbeing will be recognised at the Wyre Moving More Awards.

What an absolute joy to attend the official opening of the 'Heart of the Hub' community cafe earlier this week.
The new facility at The HUB Fleetwood was packed with local residents and community partners. It was lovely to see so many visitors, all tucking in to the delicious menu and when the volunteers from One Fylde introduced themselves, there was no doubt about how much it means to them to be part of this fantastic new team.
Heart of the Hub will now be open for brews, snacks and meals, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.30pm ... using the Bold Street entrance of Fleetwood Hospital building.
A number of drop-in events have been booked in already, starting with:
Meet local police officers and local councillors on Thursday 24th July at 10am
The Rebel Stitchers sewing group, Tuesdays from 29th July, 10.30am to noon
