There's been an amazing response to the Baton of Hope coming to Fleetwood on Monday 1st September.
The UK-wide suicide awareness and prevention campaign starts its journey on the Fylde Coast. 100 wonderful people will relay the baton from Blackpool to Lytham St Annes, up to Fleetwood and back to Blackpool for a special evening event.
The baton reaches Fleetwood around 3pm on Monday 1st, as part of an afternoon at Highbury Stadium bringing together local residents and community partners. These organisations and voluntary groups offer a wide variety of support to anyone who may be struggling with their mental health, wellness, physical health and more. The event is open to the public from 2pm to 4pm, there's no need to book, just come along!
Around 25 partners have signed up to attend and more are welcome to be part of this life-changing day.
> To host a stall stall or activity email amy@healthwatchblackpool.co.uk, co-ordinating the event on behalf of Empowerment and their suicide support and signposting programme 'Solace' - more info online here
If you can't make it along as a partner or a visitor to the Fleetwood Baton of Hope event you can still get involved by taking part in the 'The Big Puddle Jump' ... a fun way to raise funds for the charity's work across the Fylde Coast. More about this in a future bulletin!
The refurbishment of Fleetwood Jobcentre has been successfully completed and the site has reopened to customers.
Improvements have been undertaken to provide a more welcoming and comfortable environment for customers and staff, and full services have now resumed. Victoria Garcia, Fleetwood Jobcentre Customer Service Manager; said, "We’re pleased to share that Fleetwood Jobcentre has now reopened after undergoing a full refurbishment. The refreshed environment has been designed to better support both our colleagues and customers, creating a more welcoming and efficient space for service delivery. The Fleetwood team is excited to resume their vital work within the Jobcentre, continuing to provide high-quality support to the local community. Their enthusiasm and commitment remain at the heart of everything they do, and they’re delighted to be back in action."
She added, "Thank you to everyone who contributed to the successful reopening ...
... we look forward to seeing the positive impact this revitalised space will have."
The new and permanent home for Fleetwood's banking hub has been confirmed.
Currently in the former Senior Citizens Hall by Fisherman's Walk the hub's operators, CASH ACCESS UK, have announced a move to 165 Lord Street, date to be confirmed. The same services will be available ... cash withdrawals, depositing cash and cheques and paying utility bills, as well as the community banker service, so you can speak to your own bank about more complicated matters on specific days.
The community banker schedule is likely to stay the same as it is now but please check the posters in the windows or visit the Fleetwood Banking Hub's dedicated webpage for updates
Fleetwood Town have made a great start to the League Two season and there's also a new initiative to improve the matchday experience for fans.
Supported by the Club's Community Trust team, 'Here to Help' was launched at last weekend's home fixture against Bristol Rovers, ensuring all supporters feel safe and included. The volunteers are there to assist with any questions on arrival to Highbury Stadium and that's for away fans as well as The Cod Army. This might be directing you to your seat, or to guide you to the Family Zone in The Red & White's area.
> If you'd like to get involved and join the volunteers, please send an email to community@fleetwoodtownfc.com

Feel good photo of the week comes from the Fleetwood Community Comic Con, held a few weeks ago at Marine Hall.
The organising committee have been releasing the best images from their photography competitions, they say ... "The GUESTS category was full of fantastic moments, from fun selfies to heartfelt meet-and-greets. It came down to three pictures and after much debate, we’re delighted to announce the winning photo is 'Star Paws'. This shot captures an unforgettable moment, the meeting of two true stars, Hacker T. Dog and Snowy (not forgetting Phil too!). Many in Fleetwood know Snowy as the beloved mascot of Men’s Shed Fleetwood, always ready to strike a pose. And here, standing paw-to-paw with the one and only Hacker T. Dog, it’s pure Comic Con magic!"
Fleetwood Community Comic Con 2025 may be over but they have loads of workshops and other events planned for the months ahead ...
Earlier this week Fleetwood Gym Boxing Club hosted a training day for the North West squads - girls, male schools/juniors and the male youths/seniors.

There's a couple of community health checks coming up and one of them offers an incentive to attend.

A big thank you to the team behind the Fleetwood Baby Bank.
Based at Skools Inn/Out Nursery on Fleetwood Road, the volunteer-led group has been passing on clothing, equipment and toys at their monthly events, supporting local families in these challenging times. Sadly a combination of factors means they will be closed for the foreseeable future ... their time and effort is greatly appreciated.
