Hello again, we hope you are safe and well.
Another round-up of news below with more local venues and groups taking positive steps. None of these things happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes as staff and volunteers come to terms with new regulations and procedures. Sometimes progress can appear slow and measures may seem a little 'over the top' but maybe out of the hardship of the past months and the inconveniences to come, we will have a greater appreciation of how everyone plays their part in creating a healthier and happier community.
FLEETWOOD MUSEUM RE-OPENING Great to hear that visitors are welcome to the Museum again from the 4th August and there's a new exhibition about Fisherman's Friend. Ben and the team have put a lot of work into the plan for re-opening safely and there's also an offer for a free visit for local residents - check out next month's Link magazine for details.
WALKING FOOTBALL IS BACK! Initially, this is just for existing Fleetwood Town Flyers club members using the Poolfoot complex and with all the necessary protocols in place. Games will be a little different but it's a welcome return to action for the players, many took part to support their health and wellbeing through exercise and social interaction.
WHEELIE GOOD NEWS With cycling very much part of the new agenda for health and wellbeing, an update on the Bikes For Heroes project which operates from Fleetwood and Thornton. They have recently started to provide refurbished bikes to young carers as well as NHS staff, as a thank you for the support they offer to the community.
CONVERSATION IS ON THE MENU We've mentioned that Fleetwood's social prescribers are meeting and supporting residents, recently Wendy caught up with Ron for a chat at The Ferry Cafe. Social prescribing is about finding groups and activities in the community to help boost an individual's physical and mental health.

EAT OUT TO HELP OUT ... IF YOU CAN Many local venues will be offering the new Government-backed dining vouchers in August. These are designed to encourage residents to enjoy a meal and give a boost to the hospitality industry. Eating out with family and friends was something we took for granted before so if it's for you, look out for the promotions being shared.
JUST IN: FUTURE HIGH STREETS BID Supported by local partners and with input from the community, Wyre Council have submitted the final bid to the Future High Streets Fund, proposals that will help regenerate Fleetwood. If successful, the funding will also help attract further investment into the Town and its recovery.
