We start this week's bulletin with a mention of some community fundraisers ...

George Greenall is a committee member for the Fleetwood People's Pier campaign and going to great lengths or heights to bring back a much-loved attraction to the Town.

George says, "I will be raising funds for Fleetwood People’s Pier CIC by walking up Snowdon in Wales, on Saturday 9th May. Funds raised will go towards our vision of developing the pier site, incorporating a social hub/cafe and a market place of wooden huts, a jetty out to sea and possibly an outdoor events spaces to include a cinema/theatre/rides. Obviously this won't happen over night there are conversations to have, plans to be made, a site to secure and funds to be raised. All that we ask is that the people of Fleetwood rally round and get behind us to make this happen."

Lizzy Bradley is well known for her award-winning work as a Police Community Support Officer but she's swapping the streets of Fleetwood for a different beat!

On Saturday July 4th Lizzy is taking on the Trek26 Lake District Challenge for the Alzheimer's Society. The 26 mile walk will include the beauty of Ullswater lake surrounded by towering fells and the powerful Aira Force waterfall. Funds raised will support the work of the Alzheimer's Society, providing help and hope to people affected by dementia.

Tia's Crown are hosting another of their popular mornings of Dance, Chatting and Community for the Armed Forces & Veterans.

It's the perfect place to catch up with mates, stay active while having a laugh and support the veterans' community. The session is on Tuesday 21st April from 11am in The Crown Ballroom at Farmer Parrs, Fleetwood. No experience needed ... just come along and and join the fun!

Details of the next Pride in Fleetwood board meeting have been announced.

The Board Meeting will take place from 5.30pm on Thursday 16th April at Emmanuel Mount Church. Members of the public can attend as observers and may be able to speak at the discretion of the Chair, on the evening.

Our best wishes to John Hartley as he leaves his role as CEO of Fleetwood Town Community Trust this week for a similar position at Preston North End.

John has led on the development of some great sports and wellbeing initiatives over the last 3 years, and worked on many more as part of the team beforehand. He hands over the reigns to Tom Hutton who has experience in community roles at Salford City and AFC Fylde. We look forward to working with Tom in the future. Wyre Council has published their draft Heritage and Culture Strategy, and is inviting residents, businesses and visitors to share their feedback before it’s finalised. This new strategy sets out a shared vision for celebrating, protecting and strengthening everything that makes the borough unique, and includes supporting Fleetwood's heritage and culture offer.

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
