This week's bulletin features opportunities for Young People to learn new skills, build self-confidence and make friendships for their futures.
The next Fleetwood-based King’s Trust programme (formerly Prince’s Trust), Team 64, commences on Monday 21st September 2026. For anyone aged 16 - 25 not in education/employment it's a 12 week self-development programme, hosted by staff from Lancashire Fire & Rescue in partnership with the Trust.
With accreditation through Preston College, the young people gain a qualification in Employability, Teamwork and Community Skills. Not only this but they are able to receive bursary payments while on the course to help with travel and lunch costs etc. Much of the programme is hosted at Fleetwood Community Fire Station with a residential week away, work placement opportunities, many fantastic guests and the chance to learn/practice fire safety ... the time flies as it's all fun and rewarding!
Want to know more? There's a recruitment and information and conversation this Friday, 7th August from 10am to 4pm at Community First Wyre in Fleetwood. Pop in to their offices at 1-7 Lord Street to find out more about Team 64, ask any questions, and meet Chloe from the King's Trust team.
Places can be reserved by email connor@communityfirstbwf.org or call Community First on 07485 326775.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award programme celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year, is active in over 140 countries and is for ages 14 - 24.
Participants can work towards Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels through activities including volunteering, physical, skills, expedition, and residential. They can develop hobbies they already love or dive into something completely fresh and along the way have a blast with friends, get fitter, master new skills, and make a real difference in their community.
Our header photo shows a group on their recent Silver Award challenge - the young people were supported by Liam from Fleetwood's Westview Community Association. Westview has been an approved activity partner for many years and they are inviting young people to hear about what the DofE has to offer.
The Open Evening is a few weeks away, on Monday 7th September from 6pm to 8pm but you can contact Westview now to learn more.
Staying with the lovely folks at Westview Community Association, donations to their school uniform bank close this week.
Any clean, good-quality blazers, skirts, trousers, shirts, ties, belts, socks and shoes can be dropped off until 3pm on Friday 7th at Westview, 2 Eden Avenue. This will give the volunteers time to prepare everything ready for distribution which starts on Tuesday 11th August.

AND FINALLY ...
... we hope you can join us at the Healthier Fleetwood Open Meeting this evening at Emmanuel Mount Church from 6.30pm to around 8.30pm.
You may remember we cancelled July's meeting because of the England World Cup game so we're looking forward to everyone sharing their Good News for and from Fleetwood. It's very informal and friendly ... doors and a brew from 6pm before the conversation begins. Fleetwood resident Pauline is your welcoming host, join in or listen as you prefer.
Our 'Roving Reporter' Reece hasn't been able to get out and about as much as he'd like to recently.
Thank you to Mandz at Behind Closed Doors for calling in to see Reece, dropping off a card and some chocolate and letting him know he's missed by his friends in the community. And we were all delighted to hear that Reece has just become a Grandad!
Keep sending in your GOOD NEWS to share with the Fleetwood community.
Until the next time, take care.
