There's a HUGE weekend of activities, entertainment and events in our town for the early May Bank Holiday including Fleetwood Day 2026.

The annual celebration takes place in Euston Gardens around the anniversary of the birth of the town’s founder, Sir Peter Hesketh-Fleetwood, 9th May 1801, so 225 years ago. Fleetwood Day is 6 hours of live music and entertainment, games and activities, community and heritage stalls on Sunday 3rd May from 11am to 5pm ... and it's all FREE! Performing on the main stage are Wal & Dion aka Father & Son Karaoke; Lucas Williams; Fylde Ukulele Network, Chique and The Cracked ... with Fleetwood's own Joe Boe as MC for the day. There will be Punch & Judy shows during the day and routines from Highbury Morris Dancers and the Fleetwood Royalettes. Activities include the metal-detector treasure hunt, oversize garden games prize colouring competition and a chance to pick up some FREE sunflower seeds to grow at home.

Visitors to the event are encouraged to support the many neighbouring businesses for their drinks, ice creams and refreshments on the day or bring a picnic to enjoy in the gardens.

Hosted by a committee of members from Fleetwood Civic Society, Fleetwood Museum Trust, Fleetwood & Cleveleys Lions, Fleetwood Rotary Club, Fleetwood Carnival and Healthier Fleetwood, also attending on the day with stalls are Fleetwood Festival in Bloom; Fleetwood Festival of Transport 'Tram Sunday'; Fleetwood Sea Cadets and Fleetwood's Royal British Legion. Fleetwood Day is support by funding from Fleetwood Town Council.

A big thank you to the volunteers from the Fleetwood Wombles for their hard work.

They will be out and about again this weekend helping to keep the town clean and tidy before the Bank Holiday events.

Move Fest Fleetwood is a new event for 2026 - a day of FREE fun and activity for all the family.

It will take place in Marine Hall Gardens and along the Promenade on Sunday 7th June and include taster sessions for a number of sports and fitness opportunities such as cricket, cycling and climbing plus Ron's Run and much more - there will be something for all ages and abilities.

> Details are being confirmed and will be shared through the Wyre Moving More website and on Facebook here

Move Fest builds on the success of the Ron's Run fundraising events. These are a 2k or 5k walk/jog/run where the entry fee is a donation of food for The Pantry and foodbanks across the Fylde. Ron's Run was started by Luke Helmn in memory of his late father, a much-loved athletics coach, and as a way to help those in food poverty within the local area. Luke has also set himself the amazing challenge of running five marathons in five days, supporting the work of The Big Food Project. He calls into Healthier Fleetwood each week with an update and is looking in great shape to go the distance ... we wish him every success.

IN AND AROUND THE FLEETWOOD COMMUNITY ...

Monday 4th to Sunday 10th May is Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026.

The campaign aims to break down the stigma and taboo of talking about death and dying. Locally there's an event taking place at The HUB Fleetwood on Tuesday 5th May, 10am to at least 12 noon in the venue's Heart of the Hub cafe. Staff from services supporting the end-of-life journey will be there to offer advice and signposting.

Fleetwood Gym Amateur Boxing Club is launching a FREE wellbeing group for Armed Forces Veterans.

Starting on Tuesday May 12th there's a workout from 11am - 12noon followed by coffee and chat session until 12.30pm. Delivered by the Gym's team in partnership with England Boxing it's designed to improve fitness and build confidence for ex-service personnel. All abilities welcome ... if you or someone you know would benefit, get in touch or just turn up on the day, the gym is in the Victoria Building on Poulton Road.

More about the Fleetwood Volunteers Fayre on Saturday May 30th.

Healthier Fleetwood is partnering with Fleetwood Rotary Club to host this event as an opportunity for organisations and event committees to recruit help, and for individuals to offer their time.

We are now taking inquiries for tables at the event, available free of charge.

To attend as an organisation please email listening@healthierfleetwood.co.uk

Congratulations to the Fleetwood Rugby Club Mens First XV ... promoted after winning their decisive game against Bury on Saturday.

The team defeated their visitors 26 - 15 to clinch second place in the league and with Cup ties still to come it's a set to be a fantastic season for Fleetwood. The Club also continues to host FREE Walking Rugby sessions for wellbeing.

We are delighted to partner our friends at Fleetwood Wellbeing Way again this year for the 'Grow the Tallest Sunflower Challenge'.

The first chance to pick up free seeds will be from our stall at Fleetwood Day and at the Sunset Walk, both on Sunday. Plant the seeds indoors or out to start with and look after them through the Summer. At the end of August, we'll ask you to email in a photo and the height of your tallest flower and you could be our First, Second or Third place winner for 2026. Good luck and Happy Growing!

A reminder that FREE Park Yoga starts this weekend!

The weekly sessions will be held on Sunday mornings in Marine Hall Gardens at 9.30am, continuing until 6th September. All ages and abilities are welcome, there's no need to book, bring along a mat/towel and give it a go!

... AND FINALLY

The next Healthier Fleetwood Open Meeting is a week away on Wednesday 6th May. Join us at Emmanuel Mount Church on Mount Road from 6.30pm to around 8pm for an evening of positivity for and from the Fleetwood community. Come along to find out what's happening in the Town and how to get involved and to share updates from your group. Also at the meeting we'll enjoy a presentation from the National Coastwatch Institute team based in Fleetwood, sharing more about their work and also water safety advice.

We look forward to seeing you.
