GOOD News: 28th July
With the Summer holidays now in full swing, it can be difficult to keep the family occupied and entertained but the natural environment of Fleetwood does offer plenty of opportunities for family fun!
The Mount Science & Discovery Club from Wyre Council is a great way to make the most of the open spaces and coastline around The Mount Pavilion and gardens. Discover more about the nature and plants you'll find in the area, creative ideas for using driftwood and pebbles, learn about the history of one of Fleetwood's lighthouses and much more!
There are about 20 activity sheets to download from the Wyre Council website and we have copies of them on display at our Wellbeing & Community Information Centre, Affinity Lancashire.
We also have some printed copies of each ready to take away and enjoy!
Organsations and groups supporting individuals in Lancashire to cope with Long Term Conditions are invited to join a forthcoming 6-week course from Mindsmatter and Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
The conditions could be diabetes, stroke, COPD, chronic fatigue, coronary heart disease, IBS, chronic pain, medically unexplained symptoms and cancer.
There's an introductory meeting on MS Teams, on Tuesday 10th August at 12.30pm. To find out more and join the course contact mindsmatter.comms@lscft.nhs.uk
Employers in the hospitality sector with vacancies to fill can get additional support from their local Department for Work and Pensions office.
A 'hospitality hub' has been created offering support from work coaches and opportunities to promote the vacancies to potential candidates.
Employers can email LancashireHospitality.recruitment@dwp.gov.uk uk to share their vacancies as part of the Get Britain Working campaign.
The 'Vaccine Van' will be on the car park outside Fleetwood YMCA and Marine Hall tomorrow, Friday 30th July.
If you need your first jab or are due a second, there's no need to book, just turn up between 10am and 4pm to play your part in stopping the spread of the virus.
Great turn out for the first Fleetwood Promenade parkrun in many months!
Over 120 runners took part last Saturday, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to run or walk the 5km course from Marine Hall to just past Rossall Tower and back.
It was also the Fleetwood Moves event last Saturday and a great time was had by all attending!
And if dance is your thing ... you won't want to miss the Crown Ballroom team at Affinity Lancashire on Tuesday 10th August.
As part of the 'Wellbeing Week' you can join in with taster sessions of Streetdance, Latin, Cha Cha, Tik Tok, Ballroom and more between 11am and 2pm, and find out more about weekly dance sessions with Crown.
Much more about the Affinity Wellbeing Week in the next edition of Good News!
Until the next time … take care.
