GOOD News: 27th November

As we get ready for the latest changes in COVID restrictions it is good to see opportunities for grass roots sport and fitness will be available again ...

Among these Fleetwood Town Community Trust will be resuming their sessions of Ladies Walking Football on Thursday evenings at the Poolfoot Complex.

The sessions will be delivered responsibly within a COVID safety protocol set out by the Football Association.

To get involved email Marianne.davies@fleetwoodtownfc.com or telephone 01253 208442

Smashing article in the local press over the last week about Fleetwood resident, the lovely Pauline Kennedy.

She attributes a major turning point in her life to getting more involved in the community and in particular to joining the Harmony & Health singers.

Pauline is now a great ambassador for the Town and a Healthier Fleetwood, sharing her story at events and on-line to encourage others to take control of their lives. Read the article now on the Fleetwood Weekly News website.

This week has marked the second anniversary of the Fleetwood Trust acquiring the Town’s hospital building.

Progress has been made towards the vision of a community hub with the opening of The Pantry and the Volunteer Centre Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre will be offering support on the site soon.

To find out more about the work so far and future plans for the hospital building see the Fleetwood Trust website.

Congratulations to the team at Our Lancashire as they celebrate their first birthday this week.

As the name suggests the organisation works across the County and has supported a number of groups and projects in Fleetwood. Visit the Our Lancashire website for more information.

And it's a good time to mention that Friday 27th November is 'Lancashire Day' which marks the date in 1295 when the County was first represented in the national parliament. In light of current events, we'll leave you to make your own observations!

A reminder of the funding for groups supporting the community during and after the COVID pandemic. The deadline to apply is 4th December. Further information available on the Wyre Council website.

To support the 'Fleetwood Together at Christmas' campaign please contact coordinator Lauren Harrison on cedo@fleetwoodtowncouncil.org with any offers of food and gift donations or fleetwoodtogethercontact@gmail.com if you'd like to volunteer.

Until the next time ... Take Care and Stay Safe.
