GOOD NEWS - 25th March 2026

The Pride in Fleetwood board is inviting businesses and organisations to help them deliver projects and support for the Town over the next 10 years.

Dr Mark Spencer, chair of the Board says, "The Pride in Fleetwood Board would like to take on two full time members of staff to assist in the development and delivery of this hugely exciting initiative, they area a Development & Governance Officer and an Admin Assistant. As the Board is not a legal entity it is looking for expressions of interest from Fleetwood-based organisations that would be willing to employ staff on behalf of the Board. That organisation could be a local charity, a not-for-profit social enterprise, or an independent company that has a real social heart. All costs, including salaries and on costs would be met through Pride in Fleetwood funding that is already in place. Thank you."

> If you would like to know more about how your organisation could be involved or to put forward an expression of interest, please e-mail info@prideinfleetwood.uk

Tomorrow, Thursday 26th March, is National Social Prescribing Day and there's an opportunity to learn more at a special event in Fleetwood.

From 10am to 2pm, Fleetwood's social prescribing team will be at the YMCA Sports Centre next to Marine Hall. Call in for a chat and find out about the support they can offer to residents registered with one of the Town's GP surgeries. Social prescribing utilises the network of organisations, and community, voluntary, faith groups to improve an individual's health and wellbeing, alongside any clinical care they may need.

You can see a great example of how this approach can make a huge, positive difference to somebody in Linda's Story - a video on the website of the National Academy For Social Prescribing also featuring Wendy, Fleetwood's first social prescribing link worker.

Healthier Fleetwood piloted the social prescribing pathway in the local community nearly 10 years ago, and supported Wendy when she started in her role. Fleetwood Primary Care Network deliver social prescribing now - the team includes a second Wendy and Rachael, and they are all looking forward to seeing you. Other community partners attending the event include Wyre Council/Wyre Moving More, the fantastic Harmony & Health singers, A Lifetime of Wisdom - the podcast on wheels, HealthWatch, Young at Heart friendship group and Healthier Fleetwood. There's no need to book and refreshments will be available.

Voting is now OPEN for the Coastal Radio DAB Local Business Awards 2026.

The organisations, charities, individuals and events nominated have been shortlisted in 17 categories including Health, Fitness and Wellbeing; Not For Profit, Food, Glorious Food; Business Person and Family Business.

We can't suggest our favourites but there's Fleetwood interest in this year's awards - visit the Coastal Radio DAB website to cast your votes. Good Luck to everyone involved!

And congratulations to Fleetwood's Jars of Joy for receiving the 'Outstanding Contribution' trophy at last week's Tia's Crown Mental Health Champions Awards 2026.

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
