Whether you’re a dancer, a music lover, or just looking for a fantastic family day out, this festival has something for you. From aerial displays to live folk and inclusive performances, it’s a celebration of our community you won't want to miss ... and it's all FREE! Hosted by LPM Dance and their partners.
New for 2026 ... Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival is taking place from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August in and around the Town Centre.
This three-day summer festival will celebrate Fleetwood’s coastal identity, honour its fishing past, and showcase the people and businesses that continue to sustain the town’s rich maritime legacy. The festival also includes a return for the Fish Queen competition, not held since 1939, where one lucky winner will be crowned Fish King or Queen, reviving a much-loved piece of Fleetwood’s history.
Updates will be shared on social media pages for Wyre Council & Fleetwood Market.
IN AND AROUND FLEETWOOD ...
Congratulations to the Wyre Mayoral team for 2026 - 2027, announced this week ... and the Good News it means for Fleetwood!
Councillor Steve Nicholls has chosen Westview Community Association and The Pantry Foodbank as the Mayor's charities for the year ahead. Fleetwood resident Amelia Sherry is the new Wyre Youth Mayor, taking up the reins from Horateo Broomhall who has given many hours of support to the local community during his year of office.
And a special charity evening featuring former Fleetwood Town FC legends has successfully raised £500 for two local causes including The Pantry Foodbank and the Mens Shed Fleetwood. The event, organised by Connor Goodinson, brought together football fans and players. Connor recently presented a cheque to volunteers at the charity.
We love passing on details of new groups and opportunities but occasionally have to let you know of something coming to an end.
Due to a change in work commitments, Julie Sillett, founder of Alcohol Free Women, has reluctantly taken the decision to close the groups, including Fleetwood, after nearly 3 years of fantastic support. She has shared the positive benefits of an alcohol-free life and also joined community partners is a number of health and wellbeing initiatives.
Julie's support is best summed up by a comment posted this week, "I’m certain you’ve been a beacon of hope for many people, and changed many life’s for the better. I’m sure lots of your ladies will have made new life long friends whose paths may never have crossed if it wasn’t for your groups."
We add out thanks to Julie and wish her all the best for the future.
This week's Cyber Tip ...
Online safety is very important to your overall anxiety level. Lancashire Police and Healthier Fleetwood volunteer Dave Carlos shares advice. This week ... You need TWO strong passwords.
The National Cyber Security Centre says that you need at least two and you need to memorise only those. The First is used to access your device or your account. The other is for your email and this needs to be unique - a cyber criminal accessing your email can reset all your other passwords. Your strong email passwords must never be used anywhere else!
Next time – What about all the other passwords?
AND FINALLY ...
The BBC have contacted us this week about an upcoming casting opportunity for local children ... but you have to be quick to get involved!
Bro’s in Control is an exciting, high-energy CBBC show packed with games, wacky challenges and laugh-out-loud moments. The production team are on the lookout for children aged 9 to 12, ready to bring their personality to the screen and join in the fun. Filming will take around 3-4 hours, in the Blackpool area on Sunday 7th June. The deadline for submissions is 11am on 21st May, tomorrow as we write.
> Further information about the filming is available, email: laura.mccance.ext@bbc.com
and perhaps we'll see some Fleetwood children having fun on TV soon!
