GOOD NEWS - 19th June
Congratulations to everyone involved in opening the brand new Youth Hub within the former Fleetwood Hospital.
This is the latest phase of the extensive plans for the building by owners Fleetwood Trust, joining Blackpool & Fylde College, Macmillan Cancer Support, Regenda Homes, Counselling in the Community and The Pantry foodbank on the site.
Fleetwood Town Community Trust will deliver a programme of support and activities ... somewhere for children and young people to meet and make friends, have fun, learn new skills, and improve their physical and mental health.
The new facility was officially opened last week and representatives from some of the local organisations working with young people were invited.
To find out more about the Youth Hub email joe.stockell@fleetwoodtownfc.com
You can also take a look around the Youth Hub and hear more from the Fleetwood Trust at their AGM this week.
It's on Thursday 20th June from 5pm to 6.30pm, Fleetwood Hospital, North Albert Street - all welcome.
All the exciting new opportunities the Youth Hub offers are alongside the terrific work to support 16 - 24 year-olds improve their employment prospects ... Job Clubs, CV writing workshops, advice on apprenticeships and work experience.
We're delighted to welcome another new member to the Healthier Fleetwood team ... Daniel has recently joined us as a volunteer thanks to an introduction from Courtney at the Youth Hub.
He will be helping with our marketing and promotions and has already begun working on the website and creating posters for local groups and events. Daniel also has some exciting ideas for new activities which we look forward to hearing more about and helping him to get them off the ground ... watch this space!
And Fleetwood Library is also looking for an apprentice ...
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a welcoming and friendly nature and be passionate about reading and sharing this with others. There's a recruitment event for the role on Wednesday 10th July between 3.00pm to 6.00pm, being held at Poulton Library, Blackpool Old Road, Poulton-Le-Fylde.
(The apprentice vacancy is for Fleetwood Library)
Thank you to the local residents who've been sending us details of upcoming community events, many are now displayed in the windows of our Information Centre on Lord Street.
As always there's plenty happening in the week ahead ...

The next Fleetwood Jumble Trail is also on this Saturday. Dozens of households will be involved, hosting front garden and doorstep stalls between 10am and 4pm. Our former hosts at Affinity Lancashire have launched a new range of support and services for visitors to the Outlet.
These include sensory borrow bags designed to make shopping trips more enjoyable for customers with Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD) or on the Autistic Spectrum (ASD). Inside is noise-cancelling ear defenders, fidget toys and visual communication cards to help manage sensory overload. The bags are available to borrow during your visit and can be collected from the Centre Management Office near the main entrance.
The Euros are now well underway and just for fun, we're holding a Fleetwood Community Groups sweepstake.
24 local groups were picked at random and been matched to a Nation in the tournament. So you can cheer for England but also support one of your favourite community groups AND we'll take the opportunity to give them some extra promotion during the next 4 weeks. As we say, it's just for fun ... but we may find a little trophy for the winners too!
Reece & Sunny's Roving Report this week follows their visit to the KCA cancer support group.
They meet at Trinity Baptist Church, Dronsfield Road, 10am to 12noon on Thursday mornings and are planning a fundraising event for next month.
A reminder that we have our friends from West Fleetwood Computer Clinic with us at the Healthier Fleetwood Information Centre on Friday 21st June.
Pop in between 11am and 1.30pm if you need advice on your digital device, getting connected, data storage, online security and more. It's FREE to attend, no booking needed and refreshments are available - sometimes there is a little wait on arrival.
If you are supporting an event this weekend or just out and about enjoying the many things Fleetwood has to offer ... we hope you have a great time!
