The big community events are coming thick and fast over the next couple of months and this weekend is the 115th Fleetwood Carnival, originally called the Fleetwood Hospital Gala & Flag Day.
Always eagerly awaited and great fun with the traditional parade making it's way through the town led by the Carnival Queen and her entourage, followed by community floats, bands and local residents, many in fancy dress!
The weather forecast is looking good so please show your support on the day if you can and even at this late stage, offers to help as a volunteer marshal are very much appreciated by the organisers.
Please contact Cheryl on 07877 041194 or see the Facebook page here.
Please note: Following the recent incident to premises on Lord Street, the route for this year's event is slightly different to usual but the show will go on!
At approximately 1pm the parade will set off along The Esplanade from Marine Hall towards the RNLI / Knott End Ferry stations and Fleetwood Amusements.
Travelling down Queens Terrace before turning right onto Kent Street them left on to North Albert Street and Lord Street as far as Warren Street, turning right there.
Left turn onto Blakiston Street, left again for London Street before re-joining Lord Street down to Poulton Street and Poulton Road.
At the junction with Carr Road it's a straight run all the way up to the Esplanade and a final right turn takes the parade back to Marine Hall.
A huge thank you to Cheryl and the volunteers for all their hard work planning the Carnival and to everyone taking part. We hope you all have a fabulous day!
Among those joining the Carnival Parade, look out for a family of Scarecrows!
And if you are taking part in this year's Fleetwood Scarecrow Festival, there's another opportunity to pick up a FREE bag of straw to stuff and decorate your figures. Call into Fleet Farm & Equestrian on Rossall Lane on Saturday morning between 10am and noon.
