As we get closer to Christmas, we'd like to recognise the many organisations and community groups working so hard to make this time special for everyone.
There have been many collections for individuals and families in need, some lovely events bringing together people who might otherwise be isolated, plenty of fun with Santa's, Elves and even Grinches getting out and about and of course Nativities and end of term events at the schools and nurseries.
Thank you all.
And there's still more to come before the Big Day!

And on the 25th December, a wonderful group of volunteers will be giving their time to host the FREE Fleetwood Christmas Day Dinner.
If you enjoy a family get-together for Christmas, and know how much work goes into the planning and on the day, you can start to imagine what's involved in hosting an event for 150 people or more!
Local resident Heather, her family and friends have already put many hours into making this year's event a success. Fleetwood Sea Cadets have generously donated their centre on the corner of Beach Road and Princes Way; additional catering facilities have been hired; funds raised for the food, drinks and treats and volunteers recruited to set the room, serve the meal and 'taxi' people to and from the venue. Further offers of help are still needed, especially as drivers on the day.
If you can spare an hour or two on Christmas Eve to help with the preparations or at the dinner on Christmas Day, please contact director@emberandblossom.co.uk or telephone Heather on 07958 558135.
You will be helping to make it a day to remember - a huge thankyou to everyone involved.
The Fleetwood Christmas Dinner is a fantastic community initiative and is attracting some well-deserved attention from the media, locally and nationally.
Keep your eyes on TV over the next week or so for more about the people and the story behind the Christmas Dinner including a very special programme over the Christmas holiday. In fact, Heather was interviewed on Channel 5 earlier today.

If you or anyone you know is aged 16-25, out of education or employment ... recruitment is now open for the next King’s Trust programme in Fleetwood.
Hosted by Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service from the Fleetwood Community Fire, this programme commences on 26th January 2026. Group leader Chloe says,
"This is a 12-week self-development accredited through Preston College meaning the young people gain a qualification in Employability, Teamwork and Community Skills. Not only this but the young people are able to receive bursary payments while on the course to help with travel and lunch costs etc. With a residential week away, work placement opportunities, many fantastic guests and the chance to learn/practice fire safety, the time flies but it is very fun and rewarding."
> For further details on the King's Trust in Fleetwood please contact chloetipping@lancsfirerescue.org.uk
Suggestions of community-based projects for the young people are also welcomed.
A couple of community health checks in the next few days ...

There's no booking required for either of the check-ups, you may have to wait to be seen.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026

After securing £20m for Fleetwood over 10 years, our MP Lorraine Beavers is inviting local residents, businesses and community groups to suggest how it can be spent to benefit everyone. The announcement of the Chair for the Fleetwood panel and more details of the next steps is expected soon.
