It was fantastic to meet everyone in the sunshine at the Friends of Memorial Park Family Fun Day last Saturday!
Thank you to Iain, Yvonne, Matt and all the volunteers for their hard work putting on the annual event and for everything they do throughout the year alongside Wyre Council, maintaining and improving the park for local residents and visitors to enjoy.
So it's great timing to hear this week that Memorial Park, and The Mount Park in Fleetwood have been awarded a Green Flag for 2026 - 2027. The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by Keep Britain Tidy recognises well-managed parks and green spaces and is in it's 30th year.
The Friends group and Wyre Council have also begun work on installing new play equipment in Memorial Park and will be looking out for opportunities in the future. The community is fortunate to have beautiful open spaces like these and we look forward to seeing what's next!
And a reminder to checkout the weekly community litter picks in and around Memorial Park and across Mount ward organised by the Fleetwood Wombles.
There's an event on most Saturday mornings from 10am for about 90 minutes - equipment is provided, get involved for as long as you can. Families welcome.
The YMCA Youth & Housing team based at the Lofthouse Building on London Street have set up a Clothing Bank to help support the young people of Fleetwood.
Whether looking for everyday essentials, warm clothing, or something new to wear, young people are welcome to browse the collection and choose what they need - completely free of charge. Donations of clean, good quality clothing are also very welcome and every item helps support local young people and makes a real difference to the community. Please contact YMCA Youth & Housing for more information about all of their services.
