Settling nicely into their new home, the Fleetwood-based Volunteer Centre Wyre service now also have a new identity, groups and activities!
The official opening of their Lord Street premises is this Friday, 17th April and you'll notice above the door, the striking COMMUNITY FIRST logo.
This rebranding includes the former Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde Volunteer Centre and the local team, coinciding with the launch of a weekly wellbeing group. From 20th April 'Fleetwood Friends' is an opportunity to meet new people, join in with bingo, crafts, games or just sit back and relax with a brew.

And something new is coming to Fleetwood this Summer!
Park Yoga is a national charity that provides FREE community yoga on Sunday mornings in outdoor settings. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of their age, background or ability. Sessions will run through the Summer from 3rd May to 13th September, held in Marine Hall Gardens ... in partnership with Wyre Council and Wyre Moving More.

The group's weekly Tuesday session at Marine Hall continues to be one of the most popular wellbeing activities in the Fleetwood community. They meet from 1.30pm inside or as the weather improves, using the colonnades as an outdoor venue. From 21st April they will also be meeting in Cleveleys Park Methodist Church, on West Drive each Tuesday at 10.30am. Don't worry if you think you can't sing, it's just as much about having fun and making friends. Your first week is FREE then it's £2 per session to cover room hires and brews.
And the group love to put on a show ... they are regular visitors to Affinity Lancashire and at 6pm on Saturday 23rd May will be among those at St Nicholas Church Fleetwood raising funds for RNLI Fleetwood. Harmony & Health will also be performing before the Fleetwood Carnival parade on June 20th and at the LPM Dance 'Fleetwood Moves' event on July 4th (full details tba) - both events will be held in Marine Hall Gardens.

LPM Dance, hosts of the popular Fleetwood-based Dance Fusion classes are recruiting for a paid apprenticeship role.
'Take Root' is a pathway for emerging and early‑career dance practitioners to deepen their creative skills while engaging in health, community, and socially responsive dance work. The successful applicant will join LPM across Lancashire at groups and events including the 'Fleetwood Moves' Festival which returns on Saturday 4th July 2026. Applications close on 1st May - there's an audition workshop in Salford on 9th May.
Wyre Council is inviting young people across the borough to apply for the role of Wyre Youth Mayor of 2026/27.
Created in partnership with Lancashire County Council, the Youth Mayor role gives young people a platform to share their views, highlight the issues that matter to them, and influence local decision‑making. The position is open to anyone aged 13 to 17 who lives in Wyre or attends a school or college within the borough. They will play a key role in representing young people and contributing to civic life.
The successful young person will follow in the footsteps of Horateo, the current Wyre Youth Mayor who has carried out the duties of the office during the last year with a passion to make a difference. Horateo has personally supported many community projects and events, expanding on his volunteer role at Westview Community Association.
Young people interested in standing for Youth Mayor should submit the application form by Thursday 23 April. Interviews will take place on Thursday 30 April 2026 from 4:30pm.

The HUB Club on Thursday 16th April, 9.30am - 11am is an informal drop-in to the cafe at The HUB Fleetwood, the former hospital building on Bold Street. Meet some of the partners based at this vibrant community venue to find out more about their work and to share your news.
Fleetwood Growth Business Hub is on Friday 17th April from 10am to 12 noon at Fleetwood Town FC's Highbury Stadium for good conversations, coffee and guest speakers. The morning is hosted by the team from Growth Business Hub.
Our best wishes to everyone taking part in the 'Stadium Sleepout' this Friday.
Staff and volunteers from Fleetwood Town Community Trust, Lancashire Mind, YMCA and Krol-Corlett will be sleeping out at Highbury to raise awareness and funds to support homeless people across the UK.
