GOOD NEWS -11th March 2026

Congratulations to Fleetwood Police and their community partners, recognised this week for the success of a collaborative crime-prevention programme in the Town.

Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team have been announced as one of the winners at the National Community Engagement Awards 2026. The 'Clear, Hold, Build' project delivered by their Prosper Partnership has led to arrests and sentencing, seizure of cash and illegal substances, created new and exciting youth opportunities including the Empower Hub for girls, seen investment for new CCTV cameras in key areas of concern identified by local residents and much more!

Local Policing Chief Inspector for Wyre, Martin Wyatt, said: “I’m incredibly proud of the team for achieving this national award. It’s a testament not only to their relentless work to remove organised crime from Fleetwood, but also to the strength of the partnerships we’ve built through Prosper. By working side‑by‑side with local organisations, community groups and our residents, we’ve created a united front that keeps Fleetwood safe, resilient and welcoming."

Such is the success of the Volunteer Centre Wyre, the team will soon be opening up their new, larger premises and it's somewhere Healthier Fleetwood knows very well.

From 1st April this year they will be based at 1 - 7 Lord Street, previously offices for Regenda Homes and more recently the Healthier Fleetwood Information Centre. The venue offers more space to deliver support to local residents, aged 16 to 64 years through the Positive Futures programme and to manage their many other projects including The Welcome Table and the Art for Wellbeing group.

They say, "This marks an exciting chapter as we continue to grow and support more people in the community!"

The Volunteer Centre team have been supported in the move by young people from King's Trust Team 62, based at Fleetwood Community Fire Station. "They’ve given our new space a major makeover, transforming it into a warm, welcoming, and beautiful office. From filling and sanding to designing and painting, the team have worked incredibly hard. A special thank you to Chloe, Katie and Sean for their support throughout."

Look out for more exciting news from the Volunteer Centre Wyre in the weeks ahead!

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them.
