We now have a fully operational Hub for survivors of Domestic Abuse.
The hub has been actively open for nearly 4 months however Behind Closed Doors, as an organisation, has been running for 3 years.
We want to extend our thanks to everyone for their support on the opening of the hub with special thanks to Angela Dawes, Andy hill (police) Lizzie Bradley (PCSO Police) Healthier Fleetwood (Karen, Pauline, Reece) NHS & friendlier Fleetwood.
Also thanks to the community and services such as Lighthouse View Fleetwood, Rossall Prep School, Candy Shack, Andre’s of Highbury and Reece, to name a few, for their donations since the hub opened.
The Hub has proven to be a much needed area of support as a lot more ladies have reached out knowing we have a base. We are getting a lot of positive feedback. We hold weekly peer support sessions, 1-1, workshops to build resilience and empower woman after Domestic Abuse. People can self-refer via our email or via services. We get a lot of referrals from the NHS in particular. The initial response team at Fleetwood police signpost victims to us by giving out our leaflets.
The Hub is open to the public to browse our hampers of hope.
Tuesday and Thursday from 10-2pm
Saturday 11-1pm
Fridays we go out and about in the community connecting with alternative services
We are also in need of donations, new or very good condition pre loved. (No clothing please, we don't have the storage space)
Events raising funds for the hub:
In October, for Domestic Abuse awareness month. we are holding numerous events for the community and professionals at the new One Fylde cafe, Community Cafe at The HUB Fleetwood (Fleetwood Hospital). We would like to thank Hannah at One Fylde for allowing us to share vital information regarding the reality of domestic abuse. Dates and times will be shared with Healthier Fleetwood, on our Facebook page or email should a professional wish to receive an invitation.
The event at Poolfoot Farm in July - in aid of Kiena Dawes, who tragically lost her life to domestic abuse, has been cancelled.
