Advent Calendar Day 17

Next weekend the Fylde Coast Armed Forces Community will enjoy their Christmas Party night at Highbury Stadium.

We're incredibly fortunate to have such a vibrant network of support for serving and former members of all the armed forces, and for their families too but it doesn't come without a lot of hard work and commitment.

In Fleetwood much of the coordination is looked after by Rick Clement, brilliantly supported by the team from Fleetwood Town Community Trust - more about them tomorrow.

Across the region, Rick's colleagues at Blackpool FC Community Trust, AFC Fylde Community Foundation, the Royal British Legion and other organisations are doing great work too and it all comes together as a genuine community.

Activities include the weekly, virtual coffee morning on Zoom; walks, football and canoeing; breakfasts, socials and day trips and much more. A number of individuals with experience and talents, offer unique opportunities and raise awareness of veterans' wellbeing issues ... Adam and the team behind The Big Swim To Isle of Man will be taking on a huge challenge in 2023, Kevin and Mark use their woodcraft skills to create amazing rocking horses and hobby horses ... both of these projects are in association with Healthier Heroes CIC.
