SALSA YOUR WAY TO HEALTH ... TRY IT FOR FREE!

Fleetwood residents are invited to join a new dance class and discover the benefits to their health. Noches de Salsa are bringing their successful mix of lessons and social dancing to the Town supported by Healthier Fleetwood.

Following the success of the recent Afternoon of Dance when residents enjoyed taster sessions of several styles this is the first of what could be many dance-based classes. David Gore of Healthier Fleetwood said, “We’d been approached by residents and health professionals about the power dance has to improve an individual’s wellbeing so staged last month's event at Marine Hall.

It was a fantastic atmosphere and the response was so positive we are now working with a number of dance leaders to set up new groups in Fleetwood for residents to join, make new friends and see the impact it can make to their lives.”

The new salsa sessions are on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm at The Broadway Rooms by St Nicholas Church on Broadway, Fleetwood and places should be reserved in advance by telephone to 01253 401941 or 07967 768582. The cost is £4pp each week however ...

... Fleetwood residents can claim a free first session by requesting a voucher - please email listening@healthierfleetwood.co.uk stating your name and the date of the session you want to attend. One voucher per person.

PLEASE ONLY REQUEST A VOUCHER IF YOU CAN DEFINITELY ATTEND THE SESSION. Places are limited.

Allan Gater of Noches de Salsa added, “Salsa is a very social form of dancing and while you don’t have to come along with soembody it’s a great way to share time with a friend or partner. We set aside time for social dancing after lessons for you to practise your new moves but the main thing is to have fun.”

There are plans to introduce more classes offering different styles of dance and also a new group that uses dance as a social activity, similar to the successful Harmony & Health singing groups. Further information will be available on the Healthier Fleetwood website.

Please note this article first appeared in early August 2018 - the salsa course ran for an initial period of 6 weeks but unfortunately has not continued.

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
