Another local group set up by and for residents is also making progress. COOT stands for Challenges of our Teens and sets out to offer support and a chance for families with young people going through troubled times to share their experiences.

Local resident Mandy had the idea and has now arranged a meeting for Friday 23rd February, at Westview Community Association on Eden Avenue from 10am to 11.30am.

This first meeting will be to see how the group want to go forward and the idea is to meet every week.

Places are limited – please reserve your place in advance by phone to 07379 586624 or by email to

Also contact us if you are interested but can't make the meeting.

Several families have been in touch to say that knowing what to expect and how to prepare for a meeting with the social care teams would be very useful.

If your family could benefit from the understanding of somebody with relevant lived experience, please call in to the Friday sessions or if the time isn't convenient, email us at and we can look at alternatives.

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
