CREATING HEALTH CHAMPIONS IN FLEETWOOD

Healthier Fleetwood has helped deliver a two day course for residents to achieve their Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement. The course was presented by the Lancashire Wellbeing Service who kindly provided the places for free.

Pam Whitaker of Lancashire Wellbeing Service said, "This is a recognised award from the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) which provide candidates with an understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing. It will enable them to become 'health champions' and direct individuals towards practical support to attain a healthier lifestyle."

The attendees included parents and grandparents looking to pass on knowledge to their families and friends and people working in Fleetwood who want to support the community. The qualification will also be useful should any of the candidates want to persue a career in the health and wellbeing sector.

A spokesman for Healthier Fleetwood added, "We'd like to thank the Lancashire Wellbeing Service for offering these places and to Pam for delivering the course. It's a good example of what we are trying to achieve by connecting our local community."
