DANCING FOR HEALTH .... WE COULDN'T AGREE MORE!

We can't claim to be the first or the only ones but we have been saying for some time that dancing was a great way to improve your wellbeing. Seems like the message is out there as the following is taken from an article on the BBC website published today, 15th October 2018 ....

"GPs in England are being given permission to prescribe patients "social" activities, such as dance classes, to tackle loneliness. The strategy, announced by Prime Minister Theresa May, will also see postal delivery workers checking in on isolated people during their rounds. The government says about 200,000 older people have not had a conversation with a friend or relative in over a month. And many GPs see between one and five people a day suffering with loneliness."

Locally we are lucky to have weekly tea dances at the Marine Hall (above) and the North Euston Hotel. Healthier Fleetwood have been using dance to combat isolation and encourage better health through a number of events like our afternoon of dance in the Summer and we've more to come!

So as they say on the TV .... "Keep dancing"
