GOOD NEWS - 7th December

This week has seen the launch of Lancashire: County of Song 2024 - a year of celebrating and supporting community singing groups and choirs.

The programme aims to showcase the wide array of singing experiences Lancashire offers and provide essential support including workshops on securing funding and effective marketing.

In our community and nearby we are fortunate to have fantastic groups such as Harmony & Health, Just Sing at Fleetwood Methodist Church, The Dream Team Singers, The Capricorn Singers, Singing for Dementia at Fleetwood Libary, Fleetwood Folk Club and Fleetwood & District Choral Society.

So whether it's purely singing for the joy of it and to support wellbeing, or it's performing concerts and competing, there's something for everyone and we've been speaking to the organisers of Lancashire: County of Song about how they can all be involved.

And it's a good opportunity to mention the Christmas Eve Carols Singalong!

Plans are continuing for this FREE, family-friendly community event being organised by and for local residents. Meeting at Fisherman's Walk on the 24th December the fun starts around 3.30pm, with the singing from 4pm and there will be mulled wine and festive nibbles!

Elmer's Big Parade is going to take place in Blackpool next year and Fleetwood will be represented. Affinity Lancashire and Shakespeare School have sponsored elephants to be decorated and displayed to the public, raising funds and awareness for Brian's House Children's Hospice.

Shakespeare School is asking for the ideas and help create a unique design for their Elmer, who arrives this week. There's a chance to see him and make your suggestions after school on Monday 11th.

> Please see Shakespeare page on Facebook or contact the school to get involved.

Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to a very enjoyable and lively Open Meeting on Wednesday evening.

A full summary of all the groups, activities and events we heard about will be shared in a Good News Extra bulletin over the weekend. With it being so close to the New Year break, traditionally we don't hold a meeting in January so the next one will be on Wednesday 7th February ... and we are delighted to say that the 2024 events will return to Emmanuel Mount Church.

Thank you to our lovely hosts for their continued support and hospitality.

There are several Facebook links above, if you're not on social media and would like more information, please contact Healthier Fleetwood at listening@healthierfleetwood.co.uk and we can put you in touch with the group or event organisers.

Keep sending in your GOOD NEWS to share with the community.

We look forward to seeing you all soon ... take care.
