GOOD NEWS: 14th August

Another week and another busy Newsletter. Once again we are pleased to pass on a few of the things we've heard about lately ... a treasured local venue is set to reopen, there's help for those looking into training and employment, residents taking the lead on health and wellbeing and a chance to acknowledge those who have made a valuable contribution to the Fleetwood community ...

A WELCOME RETURN FOR LIBRARY Great news that Fleetwood Library will be reopening on Wednesday 19th August. It will be a very different service to the one we are used to but still lovely to have this much-loved community asset available again. For the opening times and arrangements to book a visit please see the Lancashire County Council website.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION WITH JCP As it's exam results time The Job Centre Plus team of DWP are holding an event on Twitter tomorrow (Friday 14th August) to share advice and support for young people focusing on opportunities for jobs, apprenticeships and traineeships. To get involved follow @JCPinLancashire.

WHO IS YOUR COMMUNITY HERO? Fleetwood Town Council has launched the search for this year's winner of their Community Excellence Award. Read more in the article in the Fleetwood Weekly News and to nominate somebody email Lauren at the Council on cedo@fleetwoodtowncouncil.org

TAKE THE WELLBEING WAY! Last weekend saw the launch of The Fleetwood Wellbeing Way, a fantastic new resident-led initiative. Signs along a route between the sea cadet base and the old pier site display tips to support better mental and physical health. Pop along to get involved or see the group's Facebook page for more information.

HAPPY ART If you've discovered your creative side during lockdown Wyre Council is inviting residents to share their work as part of 'Happy Art'. It could be a painting, sketch, something in 3D or even an amazing cake you've baked ... just take a picture and send it to happyart@wyre.gov.uk. Full details are on the Wyre Council website

'VISIT' THE VIRTUAL FESTIVAL Among the many events cancelled this year is the Fylde Coast Food & Drink Festival so organisers at Marine Hall have come up with an on-line version this weekend (15th & 16th August).

Healthier Fleetwood are among partners sharing videos and more throughout the day.

Until the next time, take care and stay safe.
