GOOD NEWS - December 9th
As we wait to see what lies ahead for our Christmas celebrations and in our daily life, a few items of community news to pass on ...
Fleetwood Library is hosting a free Christmas-themed flower arranging session on Thursday 16th December.
There are 3 time slots - 10am, 11am and 12noon, and places do need to be booked in advance, in person at the venue.
The library is also supporting the 'Cards For Kindness' campaign.
If you’d like to write some cards and drop them in, they will be distributed to residents of local care homes to raise some Christmas cheer. Healthier Fleetwood will be at the library on Wednesday 15th, 10am - 12 noon for a free card-making session … and we’ll have news of a forthcoming ‘dance for wellbeing’ event at the library in next week’s Good News.
Wyre Council’s Holiday Club for children who receive free school meals is returning for Christmas.
Activities include arts and crafts, sports and games, swimming and a special visit from Santa - depending on the venue. Included in the program are two venues in Fleetwood - at Fleetwood YMCA and at Fleetwood High School on Monday 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 December. For full details please see www.wyre.gov.uk/holidayclub
Fleetwood Museum’s Mapping Memories project will begin an exciting new phase in 2022 and there are opportunities to be involved.
Two commissions for creatives and an engagement officer role are available - these are paid / fixed-term contracts. > For further details of these vacancies and to apply, see the Museum’s website.
We’re opening our Wellbeing & Community Information Centre for extra days as we approach Christmas.
This Saturday, 11th December you can call in from 11am to 3pm and alongside late night shopping at Affinity on Thursday 16th it’s 12 noon to 7pm. In addition, we'll be open on Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Friday 17th December, 10am to 4pm. In light of the current COVID concerns we do ask that visitors wear a face-covering in the Centre - we will continue to review our opening policy in the weeks ahead.
The Vaccination Van is back in Fleetwood next week.
If you are eligible for a first, second or booster jab just visit the van at Marine Hall, on Wednesday 15th December, 1pm to 7pm, there’s no appointment needed.
Lastly, a reminder that the wonderful 'Inside Out 2' exhibition at Fleetwood Hospital closes this weekend.
Your last chance to catch this free collection of amazing work by local creatives is on Saturday, 10am to 3pm. See the event’s Facebook page for further information.
Until the next time, take care.
