Congratulations to everyone involved with Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs, deservedly nominated recently for a Lancashire Tourism Award.

The volunteer-led registered charity is a finalist in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism category for the opportunities they offer people to enjoy our local beach with their family and friends ... even if sometimes that means wrapping up warm.

The awards ceremony is in February 2022 at Blackburn Rovers FC ... here's hoping for a Fleetwood win on the night!

Wednesday 1st December is our next Healthier Fleetwood Open Meeting, from 6.30pm - 8.00pm at Emmanuel Church at the Mount.

Please join us and your host, local resident Pauline Kennedy, to hear about many of the amazing things happening in the Fleetwood community ... and if you want to start something new, come along to share your idea with people who can help. There's no need to book, just turn up, all welcome, refreshments available.

We will also be launching our Advent Calendar next week ...

Each day we'll shine a light on a different organisation, community group or venue and the work they do to support local residents' health and wellbeing.Find out more from next Wednesday on our social media, website and by calling into the Wellbeing & Community Information Centre at Affinity Lancashire Outlet Shopping.

Before then we are looking forward to being part of Fleetwood’s Christmas Festival celebrations this weekend.

Marine Hall is hosting a Christmas Fayre on both days, 10am to 4pm, and Healthier Fleetwood will be there on Sunday, joined by Wendy, one of Fleetwood’s social prescribing link workers.

We’ll have information on local groups and activities, and a few goodies to give away too so please come and say hello as part of your visit to this great family event.

Another local Christmas tradition resumes this year, as Santa’s Sleigh begins its tour of the Town thanks to the elfs and pixies of Fleetwood Rotary.

Look out for Santa and his friends across Fleetwood for two weeks from Monday 6th December, starting with the Flakefleet and Broadwater areas and also in the Town Centre on Thursday 16th. Tours start 6pm.

They would like to hear your views on living and working in Fleetwood and there will be various opportunities to get involved. For the next two Wednesdays we'll be joined by researchers at our Information Centre, Affinity and you can drop in to meet them and share your thoughts. Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
