TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
You won't be surprised that we concentrate our efforts on projects that benefit the residents of Fleetwood but across the region, similar work is on-going including Wyre Council's 'Together We Make A Difference'.
Do you have an idea for a community project? Are you helping out in your neighbourhood? We want to meet you!
From 5 to 8 December, the Together We Make a Difference team will be hitting the road to meet and chat to residents and community groups about what great work is happening in their neighbourhood, and to seek out Wyre’s community heroes.
The idea is to kick start a database of community assets, for example, a list of people and groups that are doing and want to do positive work in the borough as well as providing information to support and build the new FYi Directory developed by the NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group.
This could be community groups such as knit and natter, support groups, antenatal groups or support anyone that wants to help make a difference in their community and setting them off on their journey!
The team will look at what support might be needed to get good initiatives up and running. If you are not part of a community group but would like to put something back into your community, we’ll also be providing information about volunteer opportunities across Wyre.
Marianne Hesketh, Service Director for Performance and Innovation, commented: “Working alongside all communities to address local priorities is at the very core of our vision for Wyre.
“Through the ‘Together We Make a Difference’ initiative we can provide the tools and support need to drive sustainable change that local residents want to see.”

What is the Together We Make a Difference Initiative?
We’re a flexible and collaborative partnership led by Wyre Council. The support we offer is focused on developing communities so that they can address solutions and that they have the right skills and backing to do so. It is not a 'done to' approach and therefore it is essential that people as well as places are seen as valuable assets and considered according to the positive help and action they can offer. This is a glass half full project!
