FLEETWOOD PARKRUN

parkrun is a nationally coordinated programme with more than a million registered competitors taking part at one of over 400 locations across the UK. These are not races, the aim is for the individual to improve their times and therefore their health and fitness by regular attendance at one of the venues.

The organising team has been making great progress in setting up the Fleetwood parkrun. To continue the momentum, the team needs to expand and new volunteers are invited for a number of roles behind the scenes and on the day of the events.

FLEETWOOD IN BLOOM

Fleetwood enters this competition annually under the ‘Large Town’ Category and a working group made up of Town Council Officers; Elected Members and Volunteers meet to plan, organise and deliver a spectacular floral display for residents and visitors to the town to enjoy.

The competition stimulates volunteer work with residents, community groups and schools willing to get involved.  Participation promotes a tremendous sense of community and pride in our town, but above all, it is lots of fun!

As in previous years, schools and community groups will be invited to help out with some of the planting between the end of May, and throughout June…. watch out for information of our community planting sessions if you want to get involved.

HEALTHIER FLEETWOOD

We want to represent the residents of Fleetwood as much as possible and have a small panel of local people who meet once a month to plan our activity and make decisions. The meetings are usually for about an hour and just before our public meetings. The panel contribute towards our events programme, allocate funds for grass roots projects and also act a voice for residents in discussions with partners from organisations such as the local authorities, NHS, businesses and other voluntary groups.

Help is also need in practical ways like distributing leaflets and posters and being part of the team on the day of an event.

If you have even just an hour a month free and would like to get involved, please contact us. Thank you.
