Wyre Disability Service incorporates the Day Centre (for adults age 19 and upwards) Shortbreaks Bungalow and Wyre Domiciliary Service. The Day Centre is open Monday to Friday offering a range of activities with appropriate support to enable people with disabilities to achieve and to enjoy life.
The 'Larkholme For All' project is transforming the unused land next to Wyre Day Services centre in Fleetwood into a relaxing and peaceful community garden.
With funding from the Tesco's Bags of Help Scheme secured by Lancashire County Council the garden will feature a wildflower meadow, memorial garden, sensory area and wildlife pond in addition to the spring flowerbed.
The project is bringing people who use the centre and the local community closer together. As the garden is taking shape it's also improving the area and helping people to get more active while improving their gardening skills. People who live locally and use the centre will also be able to eat fruit and vegetables from the garden, encouraging them to cook their own food and eat more healthily.
Larkholme For All is being supported by Lancashire County Council, The Mustard Seed Group, The Prince's Trust, Regenda Housing Association, Cardinal Allen Catholic High School, Incredible Edible, Fleetwood High School and all who use Wyre Disability Service.
