Welcome to the Fleetwood Young Chef of the Year 2018 Challenge, launched through the Healthier Fleetwood Partnership in 2017.

We encourage all schools to deliver the awards during the Summer term with their Year 5 pupils. In 2017, 450+ children across Fleetwood took part in the awards, which was hugely successful. > watch a video of the 2017 Finals.

The challenge requires pupils to prepare and cook a three course meal for their HERO within a budget of £ 10, whilst learning chef skills, seasonality and cooking methods. The aim is to teach the children the importance of food for their health and quality of life and the challenge provides this opportunity within a purposeful and engaging context.

Once the challenge has been completed a finalist, or two depending on class sizes, will be chosen to represent each school at the Fleetwood Young Chef of the Year 20 18 Final to be held in October. The awards also links with local business and is enhanced by visits to Twelve Restaurant and My Fish Company.
