Testimonials

It's been our privilege to work alongside over 200 organisations, voluntary groups, community hubs and event committees in and around Fleetwood since 2016.

We have offered our support and expertise in a number of areas including finance and marketing, sourced and funded venues and start-up resources, facilitated connections and partnerships, generated memberships and referrals, and through our programme of engagement events and communications provided a forum for new ideas to be launched and develop.

Healthier Fleetwood thanks the following individuals and organisations for their testimonials.

"Thanks to Healthier Fleetwood our path was made smoother and our success remains firmly based on the foundations we laid down"

Towards the end of 2017 I had the idea that people with disabilities ought to be able to enjoy the facilities of the beach and the foreshore, which they could not do when using a a wheelchair. With the support of my Rotary Club at Fleetwood I started to investigate further and contacted Healthier Fleetwood to see if they could give me advice. Healthier Fleetwood helped to make connections and networks as well as giving advice on funding steams and grant availabilities. Together we formed a small association which rapidly gained us a beach wheelchair from a donor and this was followed by the registration of our small enterprise into a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, in effect a registered charity. Our aim to obtain three beach wheelchairs within three years was topped when we achieved a total of ten beach wheelchairs in 12 months and a top-of-the-range hoist. Thanks to Healthier Fleetwood our path was made smoother and our success remains firmly based on the foundations laid down at the start.

"Healthier Fleetwood is the best signposting service in Fleetwood"

Almost every month they send me an enquiry for Flounders Disabled Swimming Club. Not all result in attendance but others do become regulars and add to our  small club - we are a small group we have few other means of advertising.  Yes, the GP surgeries ys have had posters in the past but preventative measures are not often prescribed.  Additionally I pass on, when I can, the newsletter from the local group of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. I also regularly attend the monthly meeting which often signposts me to new events. I would not have found my Physical Trainer without the meeting. So with up to date information, Healthier Fleetwood is a place to visit and be amazed at what is happening in the town and a place of help too, when a group is in need or just starting.

- Susan Munslow, co-ordinator for Wyre Flounders Adults Swimming Club

“Healthier Fleetwood joins up the dots.”

- Victoria Mitchell, local resident and co-founder of the innovative Fleetwood Wellbeing Way

Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them. We are independent of but work in close partnership with the many organisations supporting the community.
