Rachael's Story
Rachael & Family.jpg

Pregnancy and birth is wonderful time but can also be stressful, not helped by the additional worries of the COVID-19 emergency. Fleetwood resident Rachael wanted to share her experience of going into labour during lockdown and thank the NHS staff who were there for her.

“We gave birth to our little boy on Thursday and I wanted to say a huge thank you to each member of staff that looked after us. We were induced for four days and every person we encountered provided the best service possible. From the cleaners, porters, student midwives, midwives to doctors, they were fantastic and a real credit to the NHS.

I would love to say a massive thank you to student midwives, Lizzie and Nicola, who were brave enough to opt into help with covid. To Denise who helped bring our little boy into the world and kept us laughing the whole time. And to Dr Sandia and head midwife Julie who helped with delivery.

It would have been a very difficult time on the ward not being able to roam the hospital freely and have visitors, but with the other mums and staff, we had such a laugh. Things were busy and hectic but I can honestly say it is an experience I will never forget and I have met some of the most lovely people. Thank you so much, you will never know how much you are appreciated.
