We'd like to invite residents and all members of the Community to a free, informal event at Fleetwood Library, North Albert Street, on Tuesday 27th June, 4pm - 5.30pm. Members of Healthier Fleetwood will be on hand to bring visitors up to date on progress so far, plans for the future and how to get involved. No speeches, no lectures of '"do's and don'ts" about your health, it's just a chat and a brew - tea and coffee will be available. Do you know someone in the local area who is a sporting star? Someone who always gets a group or team motivated? Then get nominating! Wyre are looking for sports personalities to showcase the borough’s sporting passion and hopefully go forward to represent us at this year’s Lancashire Sport Awards. Wyre's Sports Awards celebrate excellence and dedication in local sport and recognise the coaches, volunteers and clubs who have made a real difference. All the winners will go forward to represent Wyre at the Lancashire Sports Awards, the largest celebration of amateur sport in the county, which takes place in November. A future Gordon Ramsey or Mary Berry could be right here in Fleetwood and about to be discovered with the launch of the Town’s ‘Young Chef of the Year’ competition. This is the latest project from the Healthier Fleetwood partnership as part of their aim to improve the long-term wellbeing of residents. Healthier Fleetwood is working with a number of partners to find out what matters to residents, the effects it can have on their health and wellbeing and help plan for the future. Healthier Fleetwood is a not-for-profit organisation supporting the physical and mental health of the Town's residents by connecting them to each other, services and voluntary groups in the community. As an individual's confidence grows they take more control of their own wellbeing and an active role in the decisions that affect them.
