Fleetwood GP, Mark Spencer will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April to raise funds and awareness for the mental health charity MIND. Mark said, "Running a marathon at my age isn’t easy but nor is living with mental illness. It’s a dark, lonely, scary place. YMCA Fylde Coast is offering up to 60 young female residents from Fylde and Wyre an opportunity to focus on a new approach to fun and fitness. Following a successful bid to secure funding from Sport England, and with support from Lancashire Sport Partnership, young women in Fylde and Wyre can apply for a free two month pass to use in any of the 8 Fitness Studios, 5 Pools and over 200 classes per week in Fylde and Wyre. Thank you to Lisa, Gill and Marvin from C2 Connecting Communities for their support yesterday as around 16 members of Healthier Fleetwood had a walk round Warren Ward. This was the first stage in an exercise to map the assets and opportunities in the ward for future projects, identified and driven by residents. John and his Mum at the Log Cabin welcomed us and let us use the Café for our Pre and Post Meeting.
