Healthier Fleetwood has been referenced in a report by a House of Lords Select Committee looking at the future of seaside towns. The committee, which included members with personal knowledge of Fleetwood, was appointed in May 2018 to consider the opportunities for and impact of regeneration.
Dr Mark Spencer met the committee during a visit to the port last year. He said, “It’s good that the very significant health issues facing coastal communities have been recognised in this report. It’s also good that Healthier Fleetwood’s approach of connecting residents, increasing self-confidence by encouraging residents to become the “doers” and not the “done to” and genuinely putting residents in control of their own lives has been endorsed as something that could help other communities.”
