Further funding for Active Lancashire and their work in Fleetwood
More than 80 people from community groups and good causes in Wyre came to the launch of Wyre Council new community lottery last night (22nd January). The first to sign up to the scheme were N-Vision and First Carelton Scout Group.
Good causes across Wyre are now being encouraged to sign up to benefit from the lottery, which was officially launched last night at the council’s Civic Centre in Poulton.
60p from every £1 ticket sold will go to charities, voluntary organisations and other good causes that work in the area. Players of the lottery can win a £25,000 jackpot, plus smaller prizes.
Trina Parkinson, Finance and Administration Manager at N-Vision, Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind said, “We support 2500 visually impaired clients in the area. Signing up to the lottery will help us to raise funds for these local people. We run social groups, visit clients, help them complete forms and ultimately work to help people to live more independently and the lottery provides us with another avenue to raise funds to do this. I’d encourage other charities and community groups to sign up so they can raise money for their cause and help all different people in Wyre.”
Nicky Dennison, Scout Leader at First Carleton Scouts said, “This is a great opportunity for us to raise money for young people to enjoy scouting to its full potential. We’ve just signed up and it was so easy, all we have to do now is shout about it to our supporters!”
Players can choose for 50p of their ticket money to go directly to a registered charity or group. A further 10p in every pound will go into a general Wyre Community Lottery good causes fund. Alternatively players can choose for 60p to be donated to the general Wyre Community Lottery good causes fund. The remaining 40p will fund prizes, operating costs and VAT.
Players have a one in 50 chance of winning one of the prizes, which range from the £25,000 jackpot to three extra tickets. Local good causes who want to benefit can register now at www.wyrelottery.co.uk.
Tickets go on sale on the website on 18 February and the first draw will take place on 21 March 2020.
