Notes from our September meeting
Men’s Sheds have been set up across the Country as a way to offer support and friendship in a non-judgemental environment and a group of local residents have now established a group in Fleetwood.
They meet for 3 sessions a week …
Thursdays is a drop-in session at the Pavilion, Memorial Park, Fleetwood from 10am to noon. (If you’re not familiar with the Pavilion, it’s the white building by the groundstaff area and the tennis courts, Poulton Road side of the park.) Enjoy a brew and a chat and again, sometimes there’s a guest speaker.
Sunday session, also at the Pavilion, Memorial Park, Fleetwood from 10am to noon is less formal. No speakers, just tea, chat, board games and banter.
The third session is on Wednesdays from 10am to mid-afternoon and includes a breakfast for Armed Forces Veterans and other activties.
The plan is to find a permanent venue that can be used at all times for a number of activities including DIY, indoor sports and games. Suggestions of what the group could do and how you can get involved are very welcome!
THE OPEN ARMS … is Fleetwood Mens Shed shop and drop-in on Adelaide Street. Opening times vary.
If you are nervous about coming to your first session, they are a friendly bunch but you can contact them first via their Facebook page or through Healthier Fleetwood and we can arrange for somebody to look out for you on the day and settle you in.
