Further funding for Active Lancashire and their work in Fleetwood
No. 3 on our Advent Calendar … that’s the Left Back in old money … is Walking Football. This was one of the first activities that Healthier Fleetwood linked up with and in particular the Fleetwood Flyers Walking Footy.
From their base at Poolfoot Farm Sports & Leisure Complex the Flyers offer four sessions a week for men aged 50 and over of all abilities and mobility. Again it’s not about whether you think you are (or were) a talented player, the sessions are fun, good exercise and a great way to socialise.
The best introduction to the sport is the Wednesday afternoon session, 12 noon to 1.30pm played on the open 4G pitch. It’s at walking pace, suitable for beginners and is followed by a brew and a chat in the Clubhouse.
If you are more confident and fancy a faster game you might like to try one of the other times and the Club also play competitive matches – Fleetwood Flyers were the 2018 FA Peoples Cup winners!
And there is Ladies walking football too in association with Fleetwood Town Community Trust.
