Good causes sign up to Wyre’s new lottery ….
Yesterday we highlighted the Fleetwood Food Bank and how they were discussing a possible move to the Fleetwood Hospital building in the future.
This is just one of the exciting opportunities being progressed by the Fleetwood Trust for the building. The Trust is made up of people who live and work in the Town or have raised their families here. Their aim is to empower the residents of the community to improve their lives and reach their full potential.
The Trust purchased the building around 12 months ago and have already funded the refurbishment of the roof and with the support of public donations the replacement of all the windows. Work can now begin on the interior.
Ideas how to utilise the building include the community kitchen and dining space which will be the first phase, spaces for activities hosted by local groups, meeting spaces to connect residents, quiet spaces for reflection and a business incubator where entrepreneurs in the town can develop and establish new businesses that will create jobs. The facilities will be for residents of all ages and all backgrounds.
The existing outpatients department will remain and discussions are on-going regrading a 32 bed intermediate care card operated by the NHS for patients leaving Victoria Hospital but not well enough to go home.
